Acetyl L-Carnitine Powder
Acetyl L-Carnitine or ALCAR, is an acetylated form of L-Carnitine. Numerous studies suggest that ALCAR is superior to L-Carnitine in terms of bioavailability. Acetyl L-Carnitine helps to maintain cellular energy metabolism by assisting in the transport of fat through the cell membrane and into the mitochondria within the cell, where these fats are oxidized to produce the cellular energy ATP. Natural levels of Acetyl L-Carnitine diminish with advancing age. Supplemental ALCAR is thought to play an important role in protecting and supporting brain and muscle function. As an antioxidant, Acetyl L-Carnitine protects neurons from damage caused by superoxide radicals. Multiple studies suggest supplemental ALCAR improves cognitive function and energy levels, delays onset and improves symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer’s, improves feelings of depression (especially in the elderly) and may provide benefits for Down’s syndrome, Parkinson’s, stroke and other neurological disorders, along with many other conditions.
